What I teach is :
You are acceptable
as you are!
Yoga is a means
to convey this.
I honor students
very deeply.
Sharing all that I have
the grace to know.
My life is dedicated to this. |
Sky is dedicated to living a life of yoga, and for 19 years has studied and taught several styles of yoga, always coming back to the simple and deep principles in the tradition of Hatha Yoga. Gracefully incorporating wisdom from Qi Gong, Ayurveda and Bhagavat Gita (yoga shastra) into his classes gives his delivery a certain integrity and well-rounded approach.
Sky has studied Vedanta for the last 9 years with Swami Vagishananda and Swami Dayananda, giving a good grounding in the purpose and practices of Yoga as a way of achieving balance, harmony and total fulfillment in this life.
His classes are always spontaneous and deeply honoring of his students. As he says, “I’m like the milkman, I just deliver the milk, fulfilling the sacred and even unspoken orders of the students.” Taught with relaxed passion, humor and clear understanding of the poses and their benefits, one finds his unique classes inspiring and rewarding.
Sky leads teacher training programs, daily classes and workshops in Yoga and Ayurveda in Sweden and Bali. In Bali he teaches Yoga and Pranayama before most people get out of bed. See more at www.samayoga.org
"Sky delivers his classes with humour and humility, intuitively serving his students hearts. Expect to see many common and uncommon postures, as well as chanting, hand mudras, pranayama and verses from the yoga sutras and vedas, making for a very rare and complete class."
( Swami Vagishananda Saraswati )
An idealistic American youth with a passion for nondual mystical poetry arrives in India
in 1975. There he comes to the feet of his revered guru, Swami Dayananda Saraswati. Something in him knows: His life will never be the same.
Swami Vagishananda Saraswati spent the next more than 20 years studying Advaita Vedanta in the traditional manner, under the tutelage of Swami Dayananda. His studies of the most exalted Vedic prayer Sri Rudra Prasnam, the main Suktas Mantras, and the Upanishads cultivated in him a profound understanding of nonduality-one that he endeavors to pass on.
Using the traditional methodology called Sampradaya, Swami Vagishananda unlocks the teachings of Vedanta, removing the veil of ignorance that causes human suffering. He is a traditional Sanyasi (a renunciate who is committed to a life of knowledge and has taken a vow of non-injury). A master of the South Indian “Krsna Yajur Veda” style of chanting, Sri Swamiji travels all over the world teaching both Vedic chanting and Vedanta.
Among Sri Swamiji’s varied teaching positions are those he has held at Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Coimbatore, India, and the prestigious Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania (where he also taught the Vedic Heritage program for children). Sri Swamiji founded the Arsha Vidya Kendra Center for Vedantic study in Bangalore, India, and has been a teacher-in-residence at Paschima Kashi Viswanatha, Flint, Michigan, and Sandeepani West Ashram, Piercy, California.
Today, Swami Vagishananda holds classes and workshops throughout the United States, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Brazil. He is the author of the CD Shivaradhanam: The 108 Sacred Sanskrit Names of Shiva (available at www.cdbaby.com). His countless other audio and print materials are available on the Web at www.samayoga.org and www.arshakulam.org. Currently Sri Swamiji is launching www.om-atha.org, a Website that offers downloadable Vedanta classes and published works. |
